Athena decides to take a male form to speak to Telemachus. Why do you think she does this? Do you think she was right to do so? Or do you think she could have impacted him the same way as a man or a woman?

Mentors

Telemachus has a mentor to guide his way. Even in that time they recognized an example is key. What are the qualities you think are necessary for a strong mentor? Can someone be truly whole without a mentor? Or do all people need someone to look up to?

Before he begins his journey there are several things that Telemachus needs in order to be successful. What are these things? In a modern day Odyssey, do you think the same things would be needed?
