A Day at the Zoo-Readings 3/4

What is the role of animals in Greek Mythology? We see several animals in the last two readings today. What kinds of animals do we see? What might they represent or symbolize?

  1. some of these animals remind me of the wizard of oz both the white and black version. the animals almost symbolize courage, fear, and heartless, but none of these things need any oil.

  2. Animals in the storys are always monsters,&they all end up getting killed. I think they put them in the storys to symbolize fear.

  11. AH, Icarus, it took me a minute to figure out what you meant. That's a good connection. The Wiz and the Wizard of Oz both use symbols and use those animals as symbols.

EVERYONE: What do you think the bull symbolizes? We saw it twice. What's that all about?

  37. well so far, from the role of the Minataur, the animals in these stories take the place of monsters or something evil OR they are used as guards to protect something or someone. One of the animals we saw in the story was a bull. But he wasnt just a full bull...he was also half man. I think in some way it symbolized fear.
