What is the role of animals in Greek Mythology? We see several animals in the last two readings today. What kinds of animals do we see? What might they represent or symbolize?
some of these animals remind me of the wizard of oz both the white and black version. the animals almost symbolize courage, fear, and heartless, but none of these things need any oil.
the role the animals played was to protect the castle. also the animal that i read about was the minotaur the half man half bull.he symbolize strength within a god.
AH, Icarus, it took me a minute to figure out what you meant. That's a good connection. The Wiz and the Wizard of Oz both use symbols and use those animals as symbols.
EVERYONE: What do you think the bull symbolizes? We saw it twice. What's that all about?
to me the animals are suppossed to symbol fear because they said the big turtle, the half bull half human i mean cmon' are these things supposed to scare us
Animals are fearless . . Doesnt have the same minds as people do. . .They think before doing things . . .Like how kids go to the zoo and the just get hurt by an ainimals just hurt them just for looking at them
i think they to change themselves into animals so people won't actually know it is them, because if people find out they might want to over rule them with many mortals.
i agree with you achilles i think because the gods are gods which they are the higher powr they just like to do thing just to be doing it just messing up stuff
i think the gods change into animals for the sake of showing they are different because they appear as humans so no one know their gods therefore they got to show them like man im powerful...i can change into anything i wanna
well so far, from the role of the Minataur, the animals in these stories take the place of monsters or something evil OR they are used as guards to protect something or someone. One of the animals we saw in the story was a bull. But he wasnt just a full bull...he was also half man. I think in some way it symbolized fear.

ReplyDeleteAnimals in the storys are always monsters,&they all end up getting killed. I think they put them in the storys to symbolize fear.

Ok LAST QUESTION:::
ReplyDeleteIf Gods are so mighty? Why is it that they need to change themselves into animals??? What is the point?
the bull symbolizes people should be feared by it
ReplyDeleteThink about the uses of the animals
ReplyDeletei think they to change themselves into animals so people won't actually know it is them, because if people find out they might want to over rule them with many mortals.
ReplyDeleteit's hard to tell what the minotaur suppose to symbolize when you have coth human and animal features face of a bull body like a man.
ReplyDeleteTo prove to people that they can do whatever they plesed. That they should fear them.
ReplyDeleteITHINK THE GODS GET BORED AND JUST WANT TO MESS WITH PEOPLE SINCE THERE SO MIGHTY AND THEN THEIR ARE THOSE WHO WANT TO HELP OTHERS
ReplyDeleteThey change themseleves into animals because animals was the wilds thing that have alot more power then a human has.
ReplyDeleteAh, Achilles. Great point. Are all of the Gods like this?
ReplyDeleteCan anyone find me a god who was NOT a murdering, raping, theiving, liar? Is there a god who has been helpful? Good, even?
ReplyDeletei think they change themselves into animals so that no one can tell who they are.

ReplyDeletei think its because the animals have more strengh and they should fear the animals

i think Poseidon wasnt doing anything like that but then i could be wrong because we didnt do a lot of reading on Posedion
ReplyDeletethe reason to me that they change into animals so they can scare people and have more power.
