Many people do not think that Hercules punishment fit the crime. What do you think? Did he earn forgiveness? If you were assign a different punishment, what would you have him do?
I don't think that his punishment fit the crime because he killed his family and only had to do a couple of tasks and on top of that he was getting something out of the deals. I would force him to go to b a slave for the rest of his life.
his punishment didnt fit the crime the murdered his family and punishment was what going around collecting goats cows and stuff at least i think that what he had to do. if i was to punish him i'll make him clean my car rebuild the city.or maybe i wouldn't punish him he already killed his family now hes lonely to me thats punishment enough.
i agree with Athenian-102 he did deserve forgivness. I felt he was truly sorry for what he did to his family and it wasnt his fault that Hera was out to get him.
Hercules did not earn forgivness! it is 12 simple tasks for him. he is really strong i don't know how they can say it was hard. and if i were to choose a different punishment i would have to kill him. he kills his family and still goes into Mt. Olympus.. that is just ridiculous
as u read in the text they only made him do 12 tasks which isnt at all enough for somebody that killed his whole family to do. i think that it was just a little something to i guess redeem himself. even though he didnt mean to do wt he did.
Alright everybody, how does this connect to modern life? What about people who are mentally ill and kill someone (like their family). Should they be offered forgiveness? This story always makes me think of cases of people who are extremely mentally ill and commit crimes--do we offer them forgiveness because they had no control?
i dont think that his punishment did fit the crime the of murdering his family because he took their lives away and i think that they should have taken his life away also.
i agree with all their statments because no one should be punished for something that wasent there fault so he did deserve forgivness because he was he seemed like he was really sorry for what he did.
Athenian 102-But look at what the tasks were!!! He had to hold up the world! He had to move flocks! He had HUGE tasks that would have been impossible for anyone else!!
NAW HE DID HAVE A PRETTY BAD PUNISHMENT BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO THINK ABT IT HE DID ALL IF THIS AND HE WAS MORTAL..ALL THAT HE DONE WAS IMPOSSIBLE SIMPLY IMMMORTAL. BUT HE STILL DONT DESERVE FORGIVENESS HE WAS A BAD MAN AND VERY CRUEL I CANT PIC NO MAN KILLING HIS WHOLE FAMILY AND THE BAD PART HIS FAMILY DIDNT DO ANYTHING
i honestly think that he deserved forgiveness, he disnt mean to kill his family, like i said he was tricked to do such thing. it wasnt his fault.

ReplyDeleteAthenian-102: so then why did they assign him to do those tasks? What was the point???
ReplyDeleteAriadne: WHOAH! That is very different than what many of your peers seem to think. What makes you say this?
ReplyDeleteAriadne: why give him that? he was tricked into killing family it wasnt his fault
